Study with Sig Lonegren

Dowsing, Labyrinths & Workshops

Sig received a Masters Degree in the study of Sacred Space in the late seventies from Goddard College in Vermont where he studied Archaeoastronomy, Sacred Geometry, the Earth Energies, archaeology and anthropology. He was taught to dowse by his mother in the late fifties. Sig is a past Trustee of The American Society of Dowsers, served as Editor of their magazine, “The American Dowser,” and headed their Pre Convention Dowsing School for several years. He also served on the Council of the British Society of Dowsers and is now an Honorary Life Vice President, and was a Trustee of The Chalice Well in Glastonbury for seven years.

In the Mid Eighties, he moved to Glastonbury, England, where he wrote his first book, "Spiritual Dowsing." At that time, Glastonbury was the centre of the New Age – at least in England – and it was motivated by the apparent failure of left-brain patriarchal thinking.

So right-brain matrifocal thinking became the rule of the day. Goddess reigned supreme. Intuition was all. Rational analytical science was out. This was an absolutely necessary phase many had to go through to find the equally limiting opposite of the rational world of our fathers and mothers. These were very exciting times!

In 1990, Sig’s book "The Pendulum Kit," was published. It has sold over a million copies in fifteen languages (published by Fireside/Simon & Schuster in the USA). Around that time he also ran five nine-month schools in the Construction and Uses of Sacred Spaces utilizing the principles of European geomancy he studied during his Masters Degree – archaeoastronomy, sacred geometry, and the Earth energies. He now lives in Glastonbury with his wife, Karin.

The New Age experiment of the eighties taught Sig that the all right-brain approach was just as limited as the older all left-brain rational methodology. He now uses the verb “to gnow” to describe a way of functioning that values information derived from BOTH sides of the brain EQUALLY. He is presently working on ways to infuse the spiritual world in many different physical activities from Issues of Global Warming, the Earth Mysteries, world politics, dowsing and labyrinths.

Dowsing

Dowsing is a tool that can open you to a much more active relationship with your intuition and creativity. This is critical to the spiritual pilgrim or seeker. Dowsing is most commonly known as a tool for finding water, and many communities have a water dowser or "diviner" who is called upon when a new well is being dug or drilled.

Sig "pendles" for water after
finding it with a Y rod.

There are four basic types of dowsing tools – the Y rod, L rods, the pendulum and the wand or bobber. They can locate both physical targets like water, and intangible ones like energy leys or the human aura. There are numerous uses for dowsing - essentially, you are only limited by your imagination. Some of the major uses in addition to dowsing for water that was mentioned above are dowsing for health, the Earth Energies, changes in the human aura, and lost objects and oil. There are many many more. Sig can teach you how to use any or all of these four insturments and one called an "aura meter" if you have one and would like to improve your skills with it..

Geomancy

As a geomancer, Sig also cleans SIck Houses with Geopathic Stress and can help you in setting up a New Sacred Space. These are places that can enhance the possibility of spiritual connection. He offers individualised or small group tuition in all aspects of dowsing at the SunnyBank Centre in Glastonbury using the sacred spaces of Glastonbury when appropriate.

Labyrinths

Sig was taught to draw labyrinths in the early eighties by the world's leading authority on them, Jeff Saward, and wrote his first article for Jeff's magazine “Caerdroia” about them after working on the labyrinthine figures of Nasca in Peru. His book, “Labyrinths: Ancient Myths & Modern Uses” was first published in 1991. He is a founding member of The Labyrinth Society, and served on its Board for a number of years. He led the project here in Glastonbury to build the labyrinth pictured on the right.

Labyrinths are found all over the ancient world from Indonesia to Sweden, from Southern India to Native American ones in Arizona in the USA. Unlike mazes, which are left-brain puzzles, have high walls and offer many choices, there is only one choice with a labyrinth – "Am I going in?" These right-brain magical tools have a single-path and low walls. Just walking them enhances silent meditation, or used in a more conscious way, they increase intuition and spiritual growth.

Sig can teach you first how to draw a labyrinth and then how to make a full sized one and use it as an effective tool to resolve spiritual issues or to use it as a powerful problem solving device. He offers individualised or small group tuition at SunnyBank Centre in Glastonbury.

Sig's Workshops

Sig teaches numerous workshops and schools each year. He is willing to come to your organisation to teach dowsing, labyrinths, the construction of sacred space, and other aspects of modern European Geomancy. As he does this on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, he can also offer these experiences in the United States as well as here in Great Britain and in Europe. He is especially interested this year in doing longer, up to week-long, more in-depth classes. If this is of interest to you, or some group you are associated with, please contact him directly. Fees will be based on what you want Sig to do and travel requirements. (Please note, you might also want to consider getting his wife Karin, a gifted Psychic Healer and teacher, to be involved in your event as well. She is especially good in helping people to open up to their intuition and other psychic potentials. Her gifts work well with the sort of skills Sig is teaching.)
